1. Service Description

Kauai Goatscaping provides managed livestock grazing services ("goatscaping") for residential, agricultural, and commercial properties on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. Our services include hillside and steep terrain clearing, overgrown property cleanup, maintenance grazing, and farm & rural land clearing.

Our service uses live goats to consume vegetation on your property. The goats are managed by us at all times, tethered and supervised throughout each work day.

We do not use herbicides, pesticides, or any chemical treatments of any kind. All vegetation management is accomplished through natural grazing.

2. Pricing & Payment

Pricing is based on the size, terrain, and density of vegetation on your property. Our standard rate is $100 per 50×50 ft (2,500 sq ft) plot. Small jobs start around $250. Larger jobs are priced by custom quote.

All pricing is confirmed in writing before any work begins. There are no surprise charges mid-job.

  • Deposit: A 50% deposit is required to book your job and confirm your scheduled dates.
  • Balance: The remaining 50% is due upon satisfactory completion of the job.
  • Accepted payment methods: Cash, Venmo, Zelle, and personal check.
  • Late payment: Balances unpaid for more than 7 days after job completion may incur a late fee of $25 per week.

3. Project Conditions

By booking our services, both parties agree to the following:

  • A free site visit will be conducted before work begins to confirm scope and pricing.
  • The property must be accessible for us to bring our herd and equipment (trailer access or walk-in access).
  • Known hazardous materials (buried debris, chemical spills, sharp objects) must be disclosed before work begins.
  • We will identify any plants or areas the client wants preserved and keep the goats away from those areas at no extra charge.
  • Results vary by vegetation type, density, and terrain. We do not guarantee 100% bare-ground clearance in a single visit, though we will return until the agreed scope is complete.

4. Client Responsibilities

To ensure a safe, successful job, the client agrees to:

  • Provide clear access to the work area before the job start date.
  • Keep all pets (especially dogs) away from the grazing area for the duration of the job.
  • Not feed the goats without prior permission from us.
  • Not introduce any chemicals, sprays, or treatments to the work area during or within 30 days before the job.
  • Notify us of any toxic plants, water features, or structures that could pose a risk to the animals.
  • Ensure that children are supervised if they want to observe the goats working.

5. Livestock Safety

The health and safety of our goats is a top priority. Our animals are healthy, vaccinated, and well-cared for. We take their welfare seriously.

  • Goats will be tethered and supervised at all times during the job.
  • We manage all movement and routing of the herd, clients should not attempt to move or redirect the goats.
  • If a goat appears distressed or ill, we reserve the right to pause work and remove animals from the property for their care.
  • Any harm to the goats caused by the client's negligence (e.g., dogs allowed into the work area, toxic substances introduced) may result in additional charges for veterinary care.
  • Goats are transported in a safe, covered trailer. Loading and unloading areas must be flat and accessible.

6. Additional Work

If upon arrival the scope of work is found to be significantly greater than originally assessed (e.g., undisclosed acreage, previously hidden dense brush), we will notify the client before proceeding and provide a revised estimate.

Additional visits beyond the originally agreed scope will be quoted and approved separately. We never add charges to your bill without your prior approval.

Maintenance grazing plans can be added after initial clearing is complete. Ask us about recurring visit options.

7. Scheduling & Cancellation

  • Booking confirmation: Your dates are confirmed once the 50% deposit is received.
  • Client cancellation (48+ hours notice): Full deposit refund.
  • Client cancellation (under 48 hours notice): Deposit is forfeited, as the herd and schedule have already been arranged.
  • Our cancellation: If we must cancel due to weather, illness, or unforeseen circumstances, we will reschedule at no cost to you and issue a full refund if you prefer.
  • Rain delays: Light rain does not stop work. Sustained heavy rain may pause operations for safety. Rain delay days are rescheduled at no extra charge.

8. Liability

Kauai Goatscaping takes pride in careful, professional work. However, we want to be transparent about our limitations:

  • We are not responsible for plants that goats consume that were not clearly identified as "do not eat" during the walkthrough. Please clearly communicate what you want to preserve.
  • Natural fertilization (goat droppings) is part of the service and is considered a benefit. We are not responsible for any odor during the job.
  • We are not liable for pre-existing damage to fences, irrigation systems, or structures on the property.
  • Clients assume responsibility for ensuring the property is safe for livestock before work begins.

By booking our services, you acknowledge that you have read and agreed to these terms.
